TALK: conversation starters for busy families
Parental influence and involvement is an important tool in preventing
substance abuse. Let's Talk
promotes this by encouraging conversation between family members.
Life is busy. Between
work, school, sports, music lessons, and other commitments, time to talk
gets pushed to the background. When there is an opportunity for conversation
with your children, answers are usually of the "yes" or "no"
variety.
To help get conversations
started, Tri-City Partners has created Let's Talk: Conversation starters
for busy families. The tin has over 120 questions that can be answered
by all members in the family, although a few may be more appropriate for
older children.
Some questions are thought provoking: "In what ways
is respect shown/not shown in our family?" Some are serious: "What
makes a person a success?" Some are just fun: "What or who
makes you giggle and why?" How the questions
are answered is not important - it's the aspect of sitting down together
and talking, AND making a habit of it.
Now, the newly revised version also includes activites that families can do together.
